Here she is, filling in

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Our pond and its surrounding garden is filling in nicely this year. And to think we were going to take it out. I'm so glad we didn't! The hair algae is bad in it and I need to pick up a few surface plants, but all in all it's pretty clear.

Whoops, that's a close-up. I meant to post this one:

Looks great! I love your pot!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Thanks! We never used it as a fireplace, so we decided to try it in the pond. We love it as a water feature! :) Howie drilled a 3/4" hole above the waterline in back for the pump hose.

I am going to float my barley straw bundle in there since it will be warm and get really good circulation. I thought sticks would make my barley straw float, but alas they filled with water and sunk. I need to re-do my float in the pantyhose, LOL.

What a delightful pond! The pot is a great idea. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely pond, cute objects! With all the thefts that have been taking place in my garden by a petty theif who steals mostly iron materials, I have to think many times before keeping things like that out there.

Thank you, Epazota and Dinu. Oh, I know...It's so disheartening when someone steals right from your yard. :S

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

Oh gosh that looks great! I love the crane (?) Blue Heron? Everything looks terrific!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

I think it's a crane, but who knows...Mom got it for Howie's birthday last year. She hid him up in our apple tree; Howie took the dogs out and didn't even see it, LOL.

That's beautiful. You must get a lot of enjoyment walking around out there...

And how! I enjoy sitting even better, because that means my work's done for the day and I can just relax. We have a frog now, too. He's a Green Frog (Rana clamitans), I think. I ID'd him more from his banjo-twangy croak than by sight. http://www.enature.com/fieldguide/showSpeciesRECNUM.asp?recnum=AR0027

That's a bit of frog bit on his head. Fitting decoration, huh?

AHH...isn't that pretty. . . .

GW, I was finally able to get a picture of this little one in my 1/2 garden shed. Everytime I open the door, I never know what to expect....jump at me or jump away from me.

I looked at your froggie source and couldn't identify mine, not even by the croak. What do ya think?

How long is he, 2" or so? What a cute little tree frog!

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Could he be a green treefrog? This link says they can also be yellow and can have tiny black-edged gold spots on back: http://www.enature.com/fieldguide/showSpeciesGS.asp?sort=1&curGroupID=99&display=1&area=99&searchText=treefrog&curPageNum=7&recnum=AR0015

If not, maybe he's a foreign froggie that hitched a ride on a tropical plant?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes, He is about 2" or so, not counting his sticky little feetsies. I'm not sure about the call. When Scott finishes fixing that sprinkler pipe I broke, I will let him look and listen. We have several living about the yard specially since we put the pond in. In a hanging basket over the pond and then this one in the 1/2 shed. Seen some babies already this year too.

The pond is half above ground and half below ground right next to the house outside the family room window. These guys sit on the window sills after dark, talk and dodo all night long.

And they are cute. LOL
