Bonnie thats the one i told you i found at the military px. i TRIED to give you one and you said no, lol
oh, and i lied, i paid $3.47 for it, lol

What is the difference? Do the petals round out? Vitifolia has pointed ones. Coccinea's petals look like my Coral Seas. Here's both.

Monteray, i dont know. this is my first one. i just went by the name on the tag.
the vitifolia has lobed leaves? mine seem to be similiar to the ones of coral sea, although that one looks a bit pinker than mine.
this is an absolute true red. i've got another one about to bloom. ill try to take a sequence of pics.

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

Good example of a lighting technique. See this has the red . It's the same plant, with flash front flash vs back natural.

Yes they are single. I have a great book by John Vanderplank all about passi's. It shows pics of the flowers and the leaves, plus fruit etc info. It's very cool, about $26.40, with shipping from Amazon.front

okay, im confused.
what are you saying about the one i posted. Is it not coccinea? is it coral sea?
im not trying to sound dense here, but is it coccinea, or not. all the pics i see on the web of both the coccinea and the coral sea show 2 completely different flowers and leaves.
could you explain?
thanks
jen

i noticed inside the part where the flower bloomed (sounding really dumb, i know, lol) there is a small green thing thats getting bigger. i assume thats the pod? on one plant i have about 6 or so, and on the other maybe 4 of them.
what i thought was a bloom about to open was the one that bloomed yest. that hasnt fallen off yet. it closed back up on itself, almost like its protecting itself.
thanks for all your help. i think i need to order that book. : )
jen
im going back to the px on tuesday to see if they have any more of them..i can only hope.

The flowers only last a day, unless it's cool then maybe two, because it is a vine it will keep producing more and more. This is a purple one called Lavender Lady.

Bonnie and Jen,
That is the one that I gave to Bonnie. Yes, Jen, those funny-looking leaf things are the buds forming. Remember I told you my goofy story about those, and how I thought I missed them flowering and pulled them off. LOL!!!
Anyway, did the one I gave you live, Bonnie?????
