I have NEVER seen this plant before in my life!

I have had this same plant for more than 20 years; I actually have a 4 year old right now, but had its "mother" for about 18 years. It became so huge that it was an albatross, so the last time I moved, I sold it and kept cuttings. I'd read that it was a Motoskei in an old plant book I have, but once I started reading more about hoyas, I got all mucked up, and wondered what it "really was". My original came from a cutting of my mother's plant that she'd had for about 10 years. Its blooming now, I'm going to try and get a pic tonight and post it. Its so exciting to finally know what its real name is!!

Actually, H. motoskei, in simpler terms, is another clone of H. carnosa...was named before the rules came out...so it is valid. My big plant has been blooming now for 3 months.

The leaves are bigger than H. carnosa...and so are the flowers.

I thought it might be, the flowers are so similar. Mine also started blooming about 3 months ago; it just started blooming this year and is pretty profuse already. Its "mom" was an incredible bloomer - February to October. I just love hoyas!! Thanks Carol.

I have had this plant here in New Jersey, USA since April 1971. Currently it is 7 feet tall and is displayed on a cedar stand. This plant takes very little care. For some unknown reason I find it blooms for several months. We do put it on the covered front porch (Northeast) for a few weeks during the summer otherwise it is kept in the house next to an East window. It originally came from Lawndale, Calif. USA where my father grew it for many years in the 1950's and 1960's in his patio. He carried a leaf in a small amount of soil in his pocket when he flew here in 1971. We Currently have 5 small plants (about 2 feet long) to give my children and friends. One of my daughters has a plant that is 9 years old but only about 3 feet tall. For some reason college life was not good for it. Now that my father is gone the plant reminds us of him.

This plant was given to my mom once her friend found out it actually came from a woman who she found out was cheating with her husband! lol
We have loved it now for 3 years and this is the first year it has decided to bloom... and it is GLORIOUS!
I just found out the name of it today... Hoya! What a silly name! I have successfully transplanted a few broken vines from it and hope to fill my porch with it and it's children for many more years! :)
