what a beauty!
Allamanda 'Cherries Jubilee'
Yes so beautiful, I almost buy it but change mind that I bought two Hibiscus is Grosse Tete and Longfellow.
Great shot Lisa!
Wow Lisa...so pretty! I'll be snatching that up the next time I see it. Does it like full sun?
Very pretty. I had Chocolate Cherries one year and loved it.
I had that last year, I really liked it. I've been trying to find it down here, but no luck. Maybe when I go to MS in a couple of weeks, I'll find one.
I'm with Brinda and Calla,
Will be looking around for it. Calla, I still have the allamanda you sent me last year. It wintered over and now
it is in the ground.
Got my fingers crossed for that one.
I was hoping you would have done another tropical co-op this year.
a
TLC, are you sure you got an allamanda from me? I don't recall doing a co-op, other than the favors I did for a handful of ginger lovers....refresh my ever failing memory :0). I could never host a co-op..I know my limits ;0).
Suz, the road from point "a" to point "b" crosses somewhere around Bayou Blue...you might be a little tired and need a rest stop, I have some things here you might like...
Lisa,
You sent me my first DG plant in the Fall of 2002 . . a ginger "Elizabeth" which I have managed to keep going in spite of my self.
However, it has never bloomed for me. I wonder if it needs full sun or part shade here in Iowa.
The allamanda came from Calla.
Sorry for the confusion.
ahh don't worry about the confusion, it is a normal part of my life..it is the state I live in..heh,heh.
I do remember sending you the ginger, that was the only time I've tackled sending out things in co-op style. I am glad it is still doing okay. I wish I knew the answer to your question about it blooming, but I don't know what to suggest. I only know stuff growing in my climate. Perhaps someone like Root or Kyle might know what the answer is. My shot at guessing is maybe your growing season just isn't long enough to get blooms? I would also think maybe your sun is not as strong as ours and perhaps moving into a more sunny area might help? I just dunno. (pointing my hot sun reflector up towards IA in hopes for you to enjoy such a lovely bloom!)
Lisa, you will have to tell me how to go from Point A to your house, lol. We are leaving next weekend. I will be stopping at Frannies near Houston then heading that way.
TLC, I have been tempted to do another co-op. There are two greenhouses here that sell liners and lots of reasonably priced tropicals. I just haven't had the time to stop and make a list of what they have available. I found rooted plumerias in 4 or 5 colors for 3.75 gallon size and thought that was a good price.
That is a great price Susie ... I found 3 at a greenhouse they were going for $25.00 each.
Oh my goodness Deb, that's high. You can pick up a gallon size at any nursery here for $7-8
Cala,
I got a Cherries Jubilee from your Co-Op last year, still no bloom. Have not see any of these at any of the nurseries here on the Ms. Coast this year.
I was very pleased with all the
plants I got in your Co-Op, would love for you to do another.
Honeybee
I too, was well pleased with everything I got from you in the Co-0p, Susie, let us know when you are up to another one. I love hibiscus, know they have all kinds in Texas and reasonably priced.
Yes, lots of hibiscus here. The nursery with the cheap plumerias has a great selection. Only one problem, they are in gallon pots!
Has anyone ever tried to root Cherries Jubilee Allamanda? I've taken cuttings and am currently waiting to see if they root. I've taken cuttings from a yellow and the Cherries Jubilee. Would love to hear from anyone having luck in rooting these. Tropicman, JustmeLisa, have you guys tried to root these?

They rooted easily for me last summer. I just took softwood cuttings and stuck them in vermiculite and kept them in the shade.
Thanks Cala.
Sounds like I'm doing everything right so far. I'll have to wait and see if I have any luck.
