weird plants for 7 year old

Birmingham, AL(Zone 8a)

Hi!! My son David is 7. We make gardens in boxes that look like little farms and other stuff. (I homeschool.) We are studying the solar system. We want to make one that looks like another planet. I was wondering if anyohne could send some weird plants that look like they come from another planet. They have to be small - looking for seedums. I have some stuff to trade. On behalf of David, thanks!
David

Editor's Note: Our AUP and U.S. Federal laws prohibit childen under the age of 13 from participating in our forums. I've emailed David and his mom to explain, but in case y'all were wondering why this thread suddenly looks a little different, that's why ;o)

Hi David,

I have some stange sedum called "Old Man's Bones" I think they are interesting, you may too. Take a look at the picture here and let me know if you'd like some.

Molly - that definitely looks "alien" to me, lol! :)

Hi David,

I would be happy to trade for something your mom has. This is how it works.

I will send you and your mom an email and you can write back and tell me what she has to trade, we exchange addresses then mail the plants.

Ok? So watch your email box in 2-3 minutes.

Sorry everybody - wasn't aware of that rule. David chats all the time on a rocks and minerals site and they've never mentioned anything. Wonder if they realize about that rule? Anyway - I watch over his shoulder and sometimes type for him. He loves getting things in the mail so I will be happy to trade or SASE for any "weird" plants anyone might have cuttings of. He is very enthused about his alien garden.

Delphiniumdiva, I think the rules depend on the site (DD is 8 and frequents the Disney site and a couple others - like you I watch over her shoulder, but the sites are geared toward kids, and I think they're exempt from the rule we're bound by.)

At any rate, you might post the trade request over in the Succulents forum, too...the folks that frequent the forum would probably be happy to send some cuttings in trade or for SASE, especially to help a young'un develop a full-fledged case of the "gardening bug" ;o)

HI Diva, I sent you an email yesterday on the old mans bones sedum. Did you receive it? E- mail me with items you might like to trade with me for.

Thanks,
Molly

Get him Dragon Fruit. It's suppose to be easy to grow and it is most definately interesting. The fruit is massive, sweet and really good. I just started selling them, not growing yet but check back with me in a few months and I'll have some cuttings going I would be willing to trade.

Molly, my email was incorrect. If you could try again it should go through. Thanks!

Delph, I sent you another email, did you get it? If not, try this. Email me at mollymmckinley@bellsouth.net If you do this from your own email place, it should get to me and I can write back to you as well.

Thanks,
Molly
