Need groundcover for ditch

Does anyone have any suggestions for a groundcover for ditches? I have a ditch full of weeds that I would like to control. It's dry most of the year but any groundcover I put in there needs to be able to take flooding in the spring. I thought about mint, but mint is WAY too invasive. I really don't want mint to end up in my flower gardens. I'm also considering creeping thyme.
