Clematis from seed - how to?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I had asked this qn. before, but no action from my end. Those seeds are still lying in the same envelopes and they have been there when the Earth has traveled nearly one and a half revolutions round the Sun. Now, can I still use these seeds to start? Will they still be viable? Should I refrigerate it now? We are just finishing Summer. Number of rainy days will increase in June. I love this plant from the pictures I have seen here in the forums. Help, please!

Dinu, I know you are worlds away from Wisconsin, but here is my experience with growing clematis from seed.

I have had the most luck with serratifolia or tangutica, the ones with the yellow bells. Many others that I don't even know what they are because they haven't bloomed yet.

I use the Winter Sowing method of starting most of my seeds. Plant them and put them out in the snow, and some come in the spring, and often times they will come the following spring. I have some right now that have gone through a winter, summer, and now the second spring, I am getting germination. I have learned not to toss them if nothing shows the first year. This tells me, that they should definately be chilled for a period of time. This year I have planted one year old seeds and had good luck and others from 2001 so if your seeds are stored well, I would not be afraid to try them, but be patient!! Legit
