Cathy, I would love to have one. I have an unusual plant from the clerodendrum family. It grows 4 to six feet high, has heart shaped leaves, and a red flower that hummingbirds flock to. It likes dappled sunlight or morning sun. The old man that gave it to me called it "Russian Redcap". I have heard it called "Redtop". I have only seen it in one other place in our area. If you want to trade let me know. Jenny

Wow, that's beautiful, I can see why the hummingbirds would love it. Can you tell me if it's hardy to zone 5 or 6. Thanks, Cathy

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

Cathy, I am not sure. I do know it is hardy to zone 7. It dies back, then I cut the dead stalks down before spring. If you have it mulched well it might be all right. when it was given to me it was just a piece of the root with the dead stalk attached. But if you want to trade and then it dies this winter I will send you another in the spring. Jenny

oops, forgot to tell you the clerodendrum's name is c bungei if you want to find out more about it. Jenny

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes, I'll email you. I will give this plant a try. Thanks, Cathy

that is not clero bungei..

I got my info from this source. It describes my plants exactly. Evidently there is also a red bungei and a pink one. The description of the leaves, how it suckers, shape of the leaves etc. is the same. Maybe this source isn't a good one. Sorry if I misidentified. Jenny

That's ok Jenny, I still want one. Thanks for trading! Cathy

Whatever plant you have, it is pretty. I'd love to have one myself, but have run out of room and my Bungei has to grow in a pot this year. :-(

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

Cathy, I'll send it out on Tues. You will really like this plant. The hummingbirds and butterflies swarm it. Jenny

The clero you have a picture of there is CLERODENDRUM SPECIOSISSIMUM most likely, Java Glorybower, Pagoda Flower are some of the common names.

Woodville, TX(Zone 8a)

Mary, that is it. Thank you for doing the research. Mine never get to the 12 feet that it grows since it always freezes here quite a few times during the winter. The tallest I have ever had was about 6 and a half feet. Maybe if I would pot one and take it in it would reach that height the next year. I appreciate your help. Jenny

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

I would love to try one too. Have you started any from cuttings? LMK Thanks, Lou

Maben, MS(Zone 7b)

sh1025 I would like to get at start of your Clerodendrum I have Clerodendrum bungei I could trade if you are interested or could root you a Butterfly Cleodendrum if you rather have it.

Freedom, PA(Zone 6a)

Lou, yes I started these from cuttings. Golddog gave me cuttings last fall, they root very easy. They are great plants, if planted in the sun they get darker purple, in the shade the foliage is lighter. What do you have for trade? Thanks, Cathy
