My first clematis bloom!!!

Decatur, IN(Zone 5a)

Hi all,
This is my first time growing clematis. Last year I planted my Clematis 'piilu' aka 'Little Duckling' as a bareroot plant. I would have seen blooms last year but for some reason anytime the vine grew a bit, it was eaten by a hungry bunny. This time they have left them alone and I've got my first clematis bloom. I'm so excited and really love this variety that I've got 4 others. I can't wait to see its double bloom later in the summer.

Gemila

I'm having trouble posting this including the picture but w/out it, all is well so I will post the picture later.

Welcome to DG! Your Clematis, "Piilu", has a beautiful 1st bloom. NOT at all an "ugly duckling" in my opinion.

Please add it to the Plant Database. We are trying to reach 100 varieties of different Clematis, so that this genus will have it's own database.

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Sorry Shelly, it was supposed to be 'Little Duckling' and not Ugly Duckling... I was going by memory which of course didnot work very well but after checking the plant tag, I realized my mistake.

Shirley, I will attempt to add it to the database again. I tried a few days earlier but couldn't get the photo posted. Wasn't sure if it was my puter or the website.

Thanks all for the kind comments. I was very excited since this is my first Clematis and first bloom. I'm looking forward to seeing them more in the future.
