She's showing her petticoats!

Does anything in particular cause this type of malformation or is it just one of those oddities that sometimes happens?

'Double White' has her knickers all twisted!

Wow, that's odd looking.

I can't answer you question, but it must be the season. My double white lately has been the main corolla all the way in the calyx, spliting the calyx right up to the top. The main corolla doesn't turn much white, still has mostly green, and the second skirt comes way out and bloom and looks like a single. Oh well. Linda

I'm not sure why this happens, but generally when it begins blooming more it quits having the deformed skirts. Species does basically the same thing for me. It is disappointing when you are expecting those first flowers to be beautiful and then they do something to surprise and alarm you.

Thanks for your replies. There are only two blooms that are affected like this, with many others that are normal and LOTS of others soon to open.

I think it is neat looking

My Jamaican Yellow gets twisted like that also. Not sure why it does it, but they look kind of alien-ish, lol (is that a word?)
