Fat Cat?

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

:) What a fun trip to the vet. Hobbs is a year & 4 mo. old. Today he went for his yearly exam and vaccinations. My "sweet boy" weighed in at 14.8 lbs.

Would you believe the vet said he's over weight? He also recommended changing to a diet food, claiming Hobbs is eating too much, and should only weigh 12 lbs or less.

I checked the Nutro MaxCat daily allowances, and it says that each cat 10-15 lbs should be eating 2/3 to 1&1/8 cup of food a day! BOTH of my cats consume about a cup between them, along with an evening treat of about 1.5 oz of Friskies Pouch wet food.

So, really, they're not eating as much as they should to begin with. I should be doling out 2c dry food daily if they were eating "as much as they should". I leave their dry out free choice, since I knew they weren't eating as much as they should be.

Do I cut back the dry food? I wish I could cut out the wet, but since they only split one of those pouches, the little fur-meows are always begging as soon as supper time rolls around.

I can't justify switching to a diet variety food since I already know they're not eating as much as they should.

Help! :) All suggestions welcome.
