Two to three inch blooms appear in the spring especially after a rain. (San Antonio, Tx.)

Beautiful picture! Very pretty flower. I wish I could find that at the garden centers here.

This is a wildflower. I never thought to dig some of the bulbs up abd bring tem homw. Now would be a good time to do it because we have had torrential rains for a few days. They will be blooming again. If I find some where I am allowed to dig at our deer lease, I'll let you know and will share with you. Thanks for your comments.

Tami, Bulbmeister.com usually has a pretty good selection of the lesser-known native bulbs - I've not ordered from them...yet.

(Side note: it's ironic that we have soooo many sources for the beautiful Dutch imports: tulips, narcissus, lilies, etc. And almost nobody offers the U.S. native bulbs commercially ;o)

Terry, I totally agree with you about the native bulbs being ignored commericially. Thanks for the inormation about Bulbmeister.com. I have been wishing for a native bulb source.

Martha_Johnson, I was going to dig some up, but I had to have emergency quadruple heart bypass surgery 4 weeks ago and was unable to do so. I would like some seeds if possible too and will email you.
