New pond!

Crossville, TN(Zone 7a)

No pictures yet. *sorry!* lol.
I dug a hole and placed some really heavy duty garbage bags in as a liner. It's pretty darned neat if I do say so myself. *says so!*.
It will break down I know- but by then I can get a "real" liner!
The pond is framed with twine that my morning glories and fuzzy bean vine and passion vine will cover. It's gonna be so neat!

This sounds really exciting. I hope you post pictures. Remember that plastic garbage bags are probably NOT fish safe!

So far they are,LOL! I put my fry in it- they have more room to swim now. havent seen any dead fishies... *gulp*.

I'm glad fish are doing okay! I think I would watch them really carefully if I were you. Of course, garden hoses are not fish safe either, and I've been using them to fill my pond for years with no trouble. LOL!

So far so good! Hoses arent safe? :-O LOL, oh well!!! We use them too, hehe.

Why are hoses not safe? What does it do to the pond by lying outside of it? Am pretty serious about these silly-sounding questions!

I think it is the water running through the hose when you refill it.Maybe the rubber isnt supposed to be fish safe.

Yes, the rubber in regular garden hoses is supposed to have chemicals that are bad for fish. I have been using regular hoses for years with no problems and I am not going to change now. I never let the hose sit IN the pond when I am done with it, and I always let the water run through the hose for a minute to clear out old water before I use the hose when I first turn it on. Some hoses even come with a warning label that says not to drink from them, but I think that is getting too worried.
