monster

Covington, LA(Zone 8b)

This is the first blooming of Monster, a brug I got in trade late last summer. I think it is just beautiful. Does anyone know the history of this hybrid?

Yes... I think that's DonnaB's. Her Momma plant is a monster!

I was looking at the 1st picture, somthing looked different to me. I then figured out it was the anthers all stuck together. Is this typical of Suav?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Yes it is Shelly. A sure way to tell they are suav.

Yukon, OK(Zone 7b)

DonnaB sent me a cutting of this monster brug back in the fall and it is growing by leaps and bounds....I'm really excited to see it bloom!!!

That's why I call her monster. She really grows fast and blooms unbelievably. I get 150 to 200 plus blooms on her at one time. She is very heavy scented. Her parentage is unknown. All I can tell you is she is a Suaveolens hybrid. I let everyone know it is monster so they know what white suaveolens they are getting and give it plenty of room to grow. She gets 12 to 15' high and wide.

Donna, that is just beautiful ! Is it able to stay out all winter by you? Do you have to cut it back or cover it? Asking because I am new to brugs and in zone 9. I didn't know that they could get so tall and wide! A real beauty!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Donna, that is a beautiful picture. I'm not usually big on white brugs, but that one is very showy and I like it.

Adrian, MI(Zone 5b)

Beautiful white, Donna ! You have a yard full of blooms with just this one plant!
Bonnie

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

She is planted in the yard and dies back each year. She is 6' plus right now from 2 1/2 months growing and loaded with bloom pods. A few have already opened. She is so hardy you can throw a piece of her on the ground and she will root.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Wow Donna! Thats amazing! I bet its just outstanding when she blooms, smell AND sight!

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

I got it as a seedling from a mail order plant catalog about 14 years ago

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Donna, I'm getting cuttings of your Brug from dstarz. I can hardly wait to get them. What an amazing plant.

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

Donna, can she take part shade? I have one from Ken but have not put it in the ground. Joan

Vancleave, MS(Zone 8b)

yes Joan but she may not bloom to her full potential. She does great in half day sun or in all day dappled sun

Tyler, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank you I have just the place for her.
