it was maybe 5 yrs old at the time
i sent the pict to mountain maples

I planted my first Japanese Maple yesterday. It was $52 and I hope it thrives in its new location.

The area which im planting has NO plants. Im trying to decide what to put beside it!

keep in mind how slow growing your Crimson Queen will be
don't put something near that will grow & cover it
also Crismson Queen is one of the JM that likes to spead
its wings ever so slowly, so orient the side growth away from the house.
i like to put smaller contrasting colors near & below it, the plant on the right side of this pict is a large bright yellow rose

Those colors look very nice. I purchased some ivy to grow behind the JM on the chimney. I think the green will be a nice backdrop to the red foliage.

Perhaps some gold bonanza barberry and other flowering perennial shrubs. Still deciding!
