My Lucky Orange

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm posting this photo to let Cala see what came out of one of her ebay seeds.
This is the Eventide x Bert cross. This flower is 7 1/2" in diameter, not counting the tendrils. It's 10 1/2" long. The tendrils are 2 1/2" long. It looks like the new buds that are about to open are a bit smaller so I imagine those measurements might go down a bit.
It opens yellow and turnes orange by the next morning then darker as it ages. The photo is on the second day.

I know you'll are crazy about pink, but I wanted an orange and can't belive I got so lucky to get one.

Beautiful bloom. I love the color.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Very pretty.. I like pink too and now I want orange one too lol

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks for the compliments.
The flower has a nice scent, I'm not good at describing a scent, but it's kind of sweet with a hint of vanilla in my nose.
The seedling Y'ed at 4 1/2 feet, it's over my head now so it's not a small plant.
The second and third flower is open now and both of those have the normal five tendrils.
I't a bit smaller now, still 10 1/2 long but the diameter is about 6 1/2. Tendrils are still the same lenght.

Here's a photo of the second flower, on the second day.

Is this the name of the beauty? "My lucky orange" ?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Congratulations Susie for breeding such a beautiful brug!

Ellabell, GA(Zone 8a)

Shelly, this is a seedling that has only had three flowers so far, it doesn't have a name.
I just think of it as my lucky orange. I have been trying to find an orange brug, but never found one.

Then I planted these ebay seeds and the very first flower that opened was a pretty orange. That is why it's lucky to me.

Tonasket, WA(Zone 5a)

Paintedlady, Love your Lucky Orange. I hope to find something like that among my seedlings. Donna

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

I have one of Susies seedlings that bloomed last year and looks a lot like that one,I still have it to use for breeding because the orange was so strong.I used it in one of my creamsickle crosses

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

CC, Hope you get some beautiful double oranges from that cross. I have my fingers crossed for you.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That sounds like an interesting cross Karyn. Hope you get something big and beautiful from it.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Most of those seedlings got killed over the winter along with the Creamsickle X ep when my GH plastic pulled away from the bottom of the GH,when it was -0 f ,figures.....
but I noticed some of the ones that I thought died are coming up from the roots

Candy, your orange blossom is oh so pretty, I love it, orange is my 2nd fav, after pink. Computer problems here, more when I can. Ooops, BTW, I have a seed that sprouted today, I am absolutely thrilled, gosh, I'm glad I didn't kill it. I hate to ask what do with my very first seedling, so I'm going to play it by ear. Later, and Happy Saturday to all, ours was so very nice. SherryLike
