Does anyone here have any experience with Gunnera manicata? I have recently added 3 of them to my collection of plants. (Yes I know they will be giants.) I'm in zone 8b and am concerned about the heat. I know that they don't like too much sun in this zone and that they like lots of water without being in stagnant water or wet feet. Any other tips or advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you all for reading.
Who here knows...
I have tried Gunnera three times and it has never lived through a summer. I love em though! Good Luck!!!!
3 times!? And I'm in zone 8b. I can't imagine how I'll do it if you had no luck. It says hardy from zone 8 to 10. I guess I'll have to wait it out and see how it goes. Thanks for the response. No ones seemed to want to touch this one.
Let me know if it grows for you. I think it is too hot and humid here but if it grows for you , than I absolutely want one too. Think I can find a spot by my pond to put it (maybe).
I certainly hope it grows. You will certainly know if it grows for me. I have 3 small ones for different attempts. I know it loves water. It is supposedly a semi or almost aquadic plant. Water certainly won't be a problem in the summer but it is supposed to remain dry in the winter unless it is kept in cool growing conditions/temperatures.
