CLOSED: Question's about Gloriosa superba
I haven't grown the Gloriosa Lily yet, tho it is on my wish list. But, lots of things that normally propagate from a bulb, tuber or rhizome also make seeds. If it's a hybrid, the seedlings won't be true to the mother plant. That's how new plants come into being. It will grow like any other seedling, forming the tuber later, as a means of storing energy.
I don't believe it's hardy for your area, so you would have to protect it in the winter. Not much help, I know, but being in zone 9, I wouldn't have been much help anyway.
Good Luck!

BTW, Welcome to DG!
edited to add: you should post this in the bulbs forum. Lots of knowledgeable folks there.

I grow it in zone 8. I leave it in my bed in full sun! I really ignore it. It comes up every spring, blooms and dies down in the winter.
