Is this anywhere near blooming? Krimson Queen

Mesilla Park, NM

I got this one at Lowes last year and its a variegated Hoya, from looking up and reading this forum, I think it is a Krimson Queen. It has those long branching things and maybe (hopefully it will bloom soon).

Yes, it is H. carnosa 'Krimson Queen'.
Can't give you any assurances in regards to blooming size. They have their only schedule with blooming, thus it may or may not bloom so don't be disappointed if it doesn't.
I just had recently one of mine put out peduncles in a window and after moving it to the outside found out that the stem was dried up in an upper section of it which must have encouraged "survival bloom" before the completely dies. I cut the stem and stuck it in soil and it opened it's blooms now. All other healthy stems haven't put out any peduncles on this basket which goes to show how "moody" they can be.

I do see punduncle stems on the lower right corner, If you get lucky they won't blast. I have mine growing outside. I'm in Calif 10 or international zone 21. I mist them once a day.
Keep the plant slilght moist all the way down to the bottom and water thoroughly (deep) once a week I would also mist. Remember I'm giving this advise from zone 10. I am semi-arid where I live. In fact I'm going out to mist all of them now, and good luck with that lovely plant.

Thank you both for responding, I have mine outside also in shade. I do spray it often too, it is quite dry here. They all seem to be growing now. Is there a place where they show the parts of the hoya plants? I did a search but keep finding posts on other websites and plants for sale only.

Check in this thread of the forum. Scroll down and there is a post from me with several links for Hoyas.

When your hoyas do form peduncles, or the peduncles start to swell, water the devil out of them!!!...it's when they want the most water!!! Don't let it dry out or they will blast....

Hmmm! I was just looking at the picture and thinking of what Carol was saying about making sports from other hoyas (in another post-somewhere). Did you all notice those leaves with the creme running down the middle? If you took a two node cutting with them, then you would have another sport "or" is that how Krimson Princess came about?

Susan, the variegation on even the same stem may vary greatly and a few leaves here and there do not make it a sport. A cutting of it would most likely just be unstable and would get the usual variegation on new growth.
Secondly it will just add more confusion to the already confusing "dreamed up" cultivar names out there.

Edited for forgetting to proof read before sending :)

Good point, Milan. On my variegated form of H. verticillata with green margins and cream centers, I found a vine with cream margins and green centers...just the nature of the beast...all we need out there are more names!! :

man, did I get excited there for a moment..lol. well, this H. is really growing and doing something, hopefully it will get a bud soon. When you discuss the term "Burst" "Bursting" in other posts, what does that mean? does it mean it will fall off?

Celaya, Mexico(Zone 10a)

Oh I think you are talking about "Bud Blast" which is when you get flower buds and then they suddenly turn yellow and fall off before opening.
In my opinion the carnosa "clan" is not likely to blast, heck you can smack those flower buds around and they still will open.
On the other hand Hoyas like multiflora, bella will bud blast if you just sneeze close to them LOL.

Thank you so much PanamonCreel, it is incredible the amount of information that i am taking in and learning here from reading all of the posts here. I love learning these new terms.

I find that often the first buds a plant produces will often blast...and that H. multiflora often blasts becasue of a draft hitting it...and that all need plenty of water when forming the umbel or they will blast...by plenty I mean a LOT of water.
