Brugmansia 'Dreamcicle'

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Here's a fun new one. I recently bought one of these on eBay and got permission from the seller to post here. Hybridized and grown by Sue Surla, parents are an unknown peach and an unknown white. The flowers are marbled peach and white, and with varying degrees of each color in every flowers. She says the flowers keep the marbling as they age. She's had this one several years now.

Some of us will recognize the name from our childhoods - it reminded her of the dreamcicle icecreams!! Here's the flower... very pretty!

I've checked the various places and can find no brugs previously named 'Dreamcicle'. Nice one, huh?

I would like to see a picture of it as it ages. It looks so close to Versi. Peach and Versi. orange that I don't know if I would need it. It is pretty Carter.

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

That is really pretty Carter. I like the Creamsickle name too it fits it very well.... :o)

Willowwasp, they are calling this one Dreamcicle.Creamcicle is a double with similar coloring.

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Actually Creamsickle isn't very similar in coloring. In some areas it will develop a light orangy color just before fading to yuck, but I know for me it stays creamy white (or has so far). I wouldn't describe Creamsickle as a colored brug.

At any rate, this one does have a very versi look to it. I'm looking forward to mine blooming. The marbling is interesting - I've never seen anyone post a versi photo like that!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't see that. Dreamsickle that sounds even better....I like it just as much.....LOL

My Creamsickle is coloring up very nicely so far this year. I was surprised to see that much color this far south.

WillowWasp, you never have to apologize here, we're all friends here and all learning together.
Creamsickle/ Dreamsickle, too closely named.

I saw this one on ebay too, it is pretty. I am happy that you are happy!!!

I had one a couple years ago that bloomed like this one. I wish I could find the pictures I took of it but I don't transfer all my pictures to cd's. As my blooms aged they did get more overall color. It was one of those I disposed of in order to have rooms for others that I wanted. The day will come when you will get rid of brugs in order to keep and get more favorites. Enjoy it Carter because that is all that matters when it comes to brugs that we choose.

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

Carter, sometimes the plant has to get a little age to get the color.Proper color for Creamcicle is marbled orange and white. The bloom does start white and changes as the flower matures.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Here is my Creamsickle in the heat of the summer. The newest blooms are white. I'm not all that crazy about this brug yet. I'm giving it another chance this year. This picture was to show that it does get color.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

All the pictures I have seen of creamsicle (except the newly opened blooms) have been like brugies, and even dreamsicle. I guess I just figured thats why it got its name.. like those popsicles (kinda orangy)
Is it more so the older the bloom, the darker it gets, or the age of the plant? Or maybe both??

Milton, FL(Zone 8a)

I have a CS ready to bloom.I will try to get some pictures. This one is a young plant and this will be it's first flush.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Thanks JT, that will be interesting.

Cream sickle is one of my top favorite brugs. I love how it turns a beautiful shade of orange and it is just huge. The biggest flower I have.

My alley tree was just brought back from the brink of death........mites went nuts and I did not catch it for a long while. I was covered in blooms and I kept looking at the flowers and not the sickly leaves!!

Beautiful, Kell.

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

That is a beautiful picture. Cannot believe you are not a professional photographer; you sure could be. My creamsickle looks like that - a beautiful orange and looks just like the old creamsickles we used to eat as kids. Do they still make them?

Houston, TX(Zone 9b)

Gone2seed & Cala - you could well be right. My Creamsickle has only had it's first flush. I do hope it will color up!

Any time I've seen brugs classified by color, though, it's always been in the creams/whites. I certainly would prefer mine to turn orangy!!

Carter.

I am anxious to see any babies using this as a the mother. Esp. a dark orange one as the dad. It is really a grand brug! Anyone know the parents?

kell..it looks beautiful...what species of brug is it anyway? Would it be similar to veri peach? What I am asking, if I already have veric peach...would it be different enough to get this one also?
Beautiful pictures also!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Creamsickle is a double, and it has a wonderful fragrance.

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Hooray for you Carter! I love the coloring.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

No comparison Margie. I just cut this one way back trying to save it. It was so sick with mites. I now have all new baby leaves coming out. Give it a month and it will be back in full force. If you can get it soon, do, or I will share later when things are all better.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

OK kell, thank you. I did try to get it this week, but it was all sold out. I think I will see if Tracey has it. It does look like a beauty. If I can't get it, I will let you know and accept your offer for a cutting. Thank you.

Picturelady, Tracey is at the hospital with her mom. Her mom had a really terrible accident.
