Secret trade - will someone be doing that again?

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

I truly loved the secret plant trade last year, just after I joined. I hope someone will organize that again this year.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Someone beg John, (pardancanda) he is SOOOOOOo good at organizing these secret trades!!!

I was kinda thinking along the lines of a Daylily trade similar to what we did with the Hostas. But a secret plant trade would be fun too.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

But..... but......... Melissa, I'm not ready to give up any of my daylilies (are you?), let's do other secret plant trade.

Molly, I'm always happy to share my daylilies!!! You don't have to give up any... just share. :-)

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I don't mean to sound stingy Melissa, but this is my first year at daylilies and they haven't had any time to multiply. When they do, tho, I will be very happy to share. Really & truly. :^)

Then you shouldn't give up any of your babies!!! Keep them and let them grow!!!

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

the secret trade is fun. I received gloves, flower seeds, a garden sign, small plants, etc. It's not just about getting plants. Going to the dollar store and getting 1 or 2 goodies to include with the plants makes is more fun.

Prattville, AL(Zone 8a)

The secret hosta trade was my first and I must say it Isn't my last! Ohhh boy, That was soooo much fun....I'm ready to do it again

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

If you're interested in a Secret Daylily trade, hop over to the daylily forum, we're talking about doing one... hopefully someone will step up and organize the Secret plant trade, it sounds like fun!!

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Melissa_Ohio has also hosted a secret trade on the hosta forum, and she was brilliant in the role-- I nominate her for the secret perennnial trade!

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

LOL Already got one on my plate!
Back to you!

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Since John just finished the hosta trade I'll volunteer to host as long as we keep it simple... and quick ;) How bout one week to sign up and we mail plants out the following week. I'm thinking we cut the sign up time off next Wednesday night the 26th. It will give me a couple days to get names out over the weekend and we can start mailing plants the following Monday? I'll have DH draw the names.

How many plants? Does a minimum of 3 sound okay? Perennials and/or special annuals or tropicals?

Southwestern, OH(Zone 6b)

Bless your heart~ :-)
The following Monday would be Memorial Day? Is that what you're thinking?

Prattville, AL(Zone 8a)

Could always mail on Tuesday....lol...I'm ready ASAP..When the other Secret traders get there package's...Count me in!

Perennials and/or special annuals or tropicals sound's like fun but, wouldnt turn down another secret hosta trade..I'm hooked :-)

Thx,
dixiechick

Okay. I'll start a new thread for signing up.

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Thanks, poppysue! I am still working on finishing up the hosta trade, and Melissa, I saw your daylily secret trade just after I posted here- one at a time is plenty!

Saucier, MS(Zone 8b)

Question??

Would people be match up by Zone?
I know most of my plants won't make it up north & there plants
can take the southern heat. Just
wondering before I sign up.

Honeybee ........good question...hmmmmmm something to think about....or will we be notified of everyones zone ?

Well... I wasn't planning to separate zones. I sort of enjoy getting a southern topical plant to play with... they usually aren't something I can get very easily around here.

I try to take the zone into consideration when mailing something too and pick something that I think would do okay in a warmer climate.

What does the majority say? I can try to separate warmer zones & cooler zones into 2 different hats to draw from if everyone would rather do that.

Prattville, AL(Zone 8a)

I'm flexable, but I do enjoy getting thing's that are hard to find in my area. But will go with what ever works best for all...
I'm easy..lol

Don't put more work on yourself Poppysue! I'd love to try something from a different climate!

Franklin, LA(Zone 9a)

I think that a southern secret swap sounds like a great project for someone to take on! Maybe in the fall.

I'm going to pass on this one - my daylily/lily obsession has taken over my life. Are there other plants? LOL! I'll rediscover them in a couple months, I'm sure.

Cheri'

I am in either way . . . however, I personally don't have the time (or the indoor space in the wintertime) to fuss over tropical plants.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

I think if people specify on the wish-list thread we'll be okay. Me... I'm not into houseplants. To send me a houseplant is like sending it to death row - LOL!

Pearisburg, VA(Zone 7a)

Thanks Poppysue - I'm glad I started the thread. Just keep it simple and send names. When we get our trade person we can loon at DG and see what types of topics they particiapate in. We could even post 1 or 2 things they like/don't like when they provide their name for the trade. Just for viewing in the forum and you won't have to do anything except send names.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Looks like I got back from Tennessee just under the deadline. I would like to do this secret trade. Any zone is good for me. I have lots of plants coming by mail order as I write this. Oops, I better go look for that sign up thread
