Notice it has a tail. It also forms a pocket. I was given this ear last year, but it didn't have a tag. I thought I was getting Mickey Mouse. Is that what I have here?
What ear is this?
Hey Shirley....I'm certainly not an ee expert....but it does look like MM....and with a tail too!!! LOL Mice do have tails! I want to see it when it grows up!
Congrats Shirley, you have a MM! I love the little tail on the end of the leaf.
Yep its a micky mouse alright.I have several just like that...
Thanks everyone. I just wanted to make sure what I had was what it was supposed to be. The leaves are almost 4 ft. tall so when I take it outside, I've got to cut it back. Hopefully it won't have to stretch for light out there. Just a guess....dappled shade for this one???
Hi Brugie, Email me for the sun acclimation schedule. You have a Xanthosoma Marginata Atrovens, to be exact. Future leaves should be more impressive. White sections of the leaf are more suseptable to sunburn and disease. The tail is just a characteristic of the mutation and not present in all species.
I have seen it as Xanthosoma albato margatina and the Marginata Atrovens may not be spelled right..LOL but is there a difference in those?
ely
You are right. It is spelled Atrovirens. This one is XANTHOSOMA ATROVIRENS ALBO MARGINATA. I've been looking, but haven't found anything called Xanthosoma Marginata Atrovirens yet.
Thats because "marginata" suggests variegation already.
Thats like going to McDonalds and asking for a cheeseburger with cheese. =)
Heres the info about marginata:

Good luck on your Mickey Mouse, Shirley!
