This is a new structure we built to get out of the hot summer sun around the pool. The garden areas here are planted with a variety of plants.
Originally I thought the marigolds were a great idea because of the color. I am undecided of whether I will keep this scheme next year, nonetheless, I need to find out how to maintain these plants. Do I continue to let them grow as tall as they wish? I have been plucking off the "dead" flowers as I see them.
Also, because there is a good layer of mulch, will this effect any reseeding that might occur with these plants? I have been wondering whether mulch will be a bad idea around my seeding perennials.
