Wisteria anyone?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have three Wisteria cuttings rooted and I'd like to send them to one person. I don't really have anything in mind for trade. I'd like black elephant ears, ears other than plain green, perennials, something I don't have. Forget my trade lists, they are way out of date. LOL

Badseed, I would like to trade for your wisteria rootings. I have a small (baby) clivia plant (it is a houseplant which is quite expensive and will have orange blooms, or I have yellow bearded iris (early blooming), cutting from my 3 kinds of hydrangea. Let me know if any of these interest you. Jenny

I layered these. I found some in a location about 15 feet from where mine is planted. On closer investigation, I realized it was a shoot off the main plant that had sneaked under my deck, rambled along and come up behind the air conditioner. LOL When I pulled it back to where it came from there were small white bumps on the woody stem (the brug people call them lenticels, don't know if that would be the same name, didn't look. hahaha) so I figured nothing ventured nothing gained. So I layed some woody shoots through my deck boxes with very lose potting soil, covered them with soil and set a one gallon pot on top of them.

Thanks Badseed! that was a good idea that did pay off LOL

Did you scar the shoots, or do they just root on their own? I love wisteria, but am so afraid I'll get one and love it, but have my heart broken by no blooms!

Kimberley, I actually got my Wisteria in a trade a few years ago. The lady sent it to me in a BIG padded envelope, rolled up like a wreath. I planted it and haven't moved it or pruned or anything. I believe it bloomed the 2nd, possibly third year, but it wasn't long. I have found when the woody shoots lay on the ground they will root. I have two rooted pieces on my white one now too. I think I'll stick with layering because it seems to be natures way. LOL Not only are they rooting at leaf buds, they are rooting on the rest of the shoots.
