Virus???

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Please tell me if it s virus.. This is S.White Hybrid from Cala.. Been having this for 3 years. On the top, it started Y and few buds! There's new shoot bottom.. look healthy! . I was thinking about cut that long stem off and let new shoot grow and straight up. But the virus? is on the middle of the stem. If virus.. Do i have to rid all of them. I check on all of that plant.. no virus but only on the middle of long stem. Cut it off and rid of it.. Can I save the Y?

Here the whole plant..

mini...is the area of the disease, firm or soft?

Is this the typical symptom to look for with the virus? I think it may be by the article I posted a linked to a few days ago.
Anyone know for sure?

Anything black I would toss. Suaveolens are very susceptible to SB. I believe they can catch it just by near SB while other kind of brugs need to be manually infected.

It isn't a virus, but a fungal type infection, if it is SB.

Sherry...here it is...it was in a thread about SB viruses and then I posted it to virus in brugs a few days ago! Here it is for you!

OK....talking about virus...I got this plant, dbl. from a friend in March, already rooted. A few weeks later I noticed this marks on the stems. I thought maybe it was sunburn, since they were in the sun. But now I am wondering if it could be a virus. What do you think. There are no soft spots, only hard stem and these scar like leisons.

It is not a virus minigrannie but a fungus. It does not look like the typical SB spots. I would cut it above the new sprouts and save also the top. But you have to watch the plant, if it new spots appear again.

monika...how about mine? Could you please tell me what you think?

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

picturelady, it looks to me like a injury or a rot, which has become dry. What are those stems behind it?

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Monika...thank you for your answer. The stem all the way to the right is a bamboo stem, I was using as a stake. The others were all in the same container, as the main stem. I don't know if they are what you would call basal shoots (?)

I also wanted to mention to you, that I hope I did not offend you in asking about your seeds in an e-mail and in a post. I notice that you did not answer either. I only asked because I thought your brugs were so lovely, that I was trying to find out how to get one. My apology if I offended you in any way.

Thank you Monika.. At first I was scared it would spread it all to my brugs.. I remembered when it happened.. before the black showed up.. I put hummingbird feeder with hanging on that and left there for a week and I moved it to other place and didn't notice until now the black spots started showing. I am going to save the top and the new shoot. Of course I am watching that plant close and if it appear other black.. I am going to rid it period!

Yes Shelley, now I am dragging them OUT again lol! But it is a happy dragging out.
I will post pictures, when the alley is planted.

Monika, I just spoke to the gardening friend who gave me the pot with the cutting. She said that she had stuck a few other cuttings in the pot along with the large one. That and the bamboo shoot being used as a stake, are the other stems in the container! She said that she told me, but I had forgotten. Mystery solved...I guess they are not basal shoots!
