I cleaned and hopefully killed the problem. I forgot I did take an after picture. The before was white sticky goo all over the stem where that little bit of white is. It was a mess.

Is it possible that you had a mass of mealy bugs on it? They are sticky and white. Here is a picture: http://www.naturescontrol.com/image/mealy.jpg

That's what I was thinking Brugie. Was there orangey stuff in the middle of them?(that would be mealy bug guts)

I looked like marshmellow. I cleaned it off and Orthoed them, should that do it?

If it was mealy bugs, they are sometimes tough to get rid of. Rubbing alcohol will do the trick. Just put it on a Q-tip and wipe. Gets them every time. Just check every day until you no longer are seeing them at all.
