Nishiki Willow, Dappled Willow 'Hakuro Nishiki' (Salix integra)

Vancouver, WA(Zone 8a)

henry10, I think I am going to purchase one tomorrow. What kind of sun/shade do you have it in?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

It gets about 4 hours of full sun a day and probably 4 hours of dappled.
Our other one gets only a few hours of full and is noticeably smaller but just as colorful.

Way to go, Ric! It's a beauty!

I just purchased this plant and love the foliage particularly the light pink on the tips of the branches.
I am writing to say I am really smitten with your broken mirror effect on the fence, may borrow that idea for a spot in one of my beds.

Thanks Candee!
We have those mirrors (keep an eye out in the trash....lol!) all over.
Also Garage sales... we buy a lot of Mirror Tiles too.
They are especially affective at night w/ a fire or torches.
Plexiglas mirrors work very well too

Make sure you prune the Willow back hard in late Fall or early Spring.
It WILL get big and the best color is on the new shoot growth.
Roots VERY easily from cuttings just stuck in water. As do most Willows.

Oh really, I have ample corkscrew willow started from cuttings and they are 30'+. I may just try that. I will make a note to prune.
We have lanterns on our deck and have an antique mirror, but was thinking those pieces might look nice above out bar area.

Beautiful!

Remember wood moves w/ the humidity and temp.
Allow the mirrors to move too.
We didn't at first.... so we got MORE mirror pieces....lol!

Got ya, we never had a problem with the mirror in the frame that you see in the back,.
How did you hand yours? How did you attach them
BTW thank you we spend a tremendous amount of time out there.

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

First time we screwed them in.
Now we use mirror clips.

Laurel, DE(Zone 7a)

Gotch ya, now do you just put in one or 2 so they can flex?

Cincinnati, OH(Zone 6b)

We do a few pressure points.
Some mirrors have 6 clips, some 3 it depends.
The wood in our fence floats so it expands and contracts a LOT.

I'll get some pictures and show you.

Ours doesn't do much epansion nor contraction so likely not as big a problem. Would love to see more pics!
