Thought it would be nice to see how all the starts, tubers, seeds, and cuttings I have sent out are doing.
Chocolate iris:
Are they blooming or going to bloom for you?
Lamium: Has it taken over your yard and garden yet?
Horseradish: Growing? Spreading?
Native Daylilies: Perking up and settling in?
Buddleia Butterfly bush:
Any of the cuttings survive and root?
Vinca Minor: Spreading nicely?
*************************************************
All of the things I have recieved are for the most part doing well.
Anis Hysops: Out of two starts, one is doing great and growing very nicely....the other keeps trying to grow, but seems to be the favorite food of 'something'. Everytime it puts on a couple leaves, something eats it back down to nubs. I'm moving it later today to see if I can't save it.
Creeping Jenny:
Doing beautifully! Mixing in with the purple ajuga just as I had wanted. The color combination is stunning. :-)
Honeysuckle:
Slow to start, but is now going like gang busters...really starting to put on new growth.
Obedient Plant:
Doing very well....growing rapidly.
Bishops Weed:
Just beginning to send up new shoots...should do well.
Datura seeds:
I have about 40 or so 4 inch babies of various colors. These seem slow to grow for me, but it could be due to our cooler temps as of late.
Duranta:
Settling in and sending up a few new leaf shoots.
Brug Cuttings:
All five are doing great! Three have been planted out, and the other two will be later this weekend.
Daylily Seed:
Have multiple new clumps started in various beds thanks to the high germination of these seeds. (all but the Stella)
The seedlings are about 6 inchs now and doing well in their beds. Ca't wait to see what crosses I have once they bloom next year (hopefully)
Tangerine Azalea:
Not doing much yet, but than it's only been in the bed a week.
I appologize if I have forgotten anyone/anything....I'll update the listing should I find anything I have forgotten.
Thank you everyone who has traded with me this season.
You have helped make my garden that much nicer with your generousity and your friendships.
Marc
RikerBear
So how are your traded plants doing????
Glad to hear it Lottie! Those callas get HUGE (at least for me), and it looks like yours is well on its way. :-)
All 5 of the Brug cuttings you sent me have rooted nicely.
The three thin stemed ones are planted in a protected bed near our hottub. The other two (larger thicker stemed ones)
where going into the tropical bed today, but I've decided to pot them up and keep them on the lower patio.
Thanks again for your kindness and generousity.
Marc
Ummm, Chocolate Iris? Would like to hear more about those, rikerbear!
It's only what I call them Pardancanda.....they were here when we bought the house. Kind of an odd purple/brownish color. Reminds me of chocolate...sort of. :-)
I'll try and post a pic i the Iris forum if I can get the color to reproduce correctly.
Marc, if you ever have anymore extra vinca minor - I've been looking for some of that! :)
Oh lord! I have as much as you'd like....... It's taken over an area of my front yard (thanks to the neighbors). I pull it up and cut it back and all it seems to do is make it angry.
It grows so fast!
If your sure you want some I'll send it to you....E-me with your addy.
Marc
Glad to hear all the cuttings are doing good. I hope they put some really nice blooms on for you soon.
I love my Giant Calla...it makes the ones I had look like dwarfs...what do you feed these things? LOL
It was a great trade and one of my best!
Thanks again!
OK - but I have never plant cuttings from the mail before - you'll have to give me instructions on what to do with them once they get here! :)
Karrie, with Vinca especially it is near fool proof.....just stick any rooted area into soil, and it will take off.....the same for any stem without roots showing.
This stuff roots almost before your very eyes.
Marc
ok - I sent you an email.
GOt it......... I'll send some starts out later this week. :-)
