LOL! I go through phases of lusting with the bloom cycles. It starts with the dwarfs, and then goes to the TBs. Then the sibs.... later it will be daylily lusting.

Fortunately for me, TBs generally do horribly in my garden, and I haven't yet been bitten by the daylily bug. As soon as puttytat gets all her MDBs, SDBs, IBs, MTBs, and Sibs posted, I should be able to start to recover my normal color (as opposed to "envy green"). ;-)

Oh Puttytat that is very pretty ! I'm newly addicted to iris. So would this one be readily available at local greenhouses ? Or a hard to find one ? And approx how tall is a dwarf one ?
I have an unknown yellow one that I picked up at a farmers market a couple years ago. It is only about 4 inches tall.

Hi Willit - I don't think iris do well in greenhouses, generally - they need a good winter freeze! Puddy Tat is a new introduction (2003) but is listed in a number of catalogs this year. Miniature Dwarf Iris are sometimes only 4" tall. Puddy Tat is a Standard Dwarf - I don't have the exact AIS standards in front of me, but the height range is something like 9-15".

Poor Laurie - I'm falling behind getting my pictures posted so I hope you're a pretty shade of green....

Puttytat, the hybridizer of this one spelled your name wrong....

Actually, Paul Black didn't have a choice - Puttytat is already a registered Louisiana iris!

puttytat, i love looking at your pictures you post. i was wandering which catalogs you purchase your irises from? belinda

Thanks for the info Puttytat, I'll be looking for it. I just think it would look puddynice in my garden.

Belinda - I've purchased iris from almost every major - and most minor! - commercial grower in the country!! Probably my favorites are Nicholson's Woodland Gardens, Sutton's, and Winterberry Gardens in Virginia - but there are many others just as good, just with smaller listings. Joe Ghio at Bay View Gardens, Keith Keppel and Mid-America Gardens - and Salmon Creek - all offer the cutting edge of new introductions, including most of the Blyth iris from Australia.
