Shirley......THANK YOU...I will check it out .....I am kind of in trouble because one of our sons is going to get married in my garden June 2005 and I need to come up with alot of good ideas to make it pretty since I lost so many roses last winter...I am just sick about it as You can imagine.......will need vines etc. to compensate,
Brigitte
At least you have a year to get some going, but a promise of blooms at just the right time might be difficult to get.
Brigette, unless you buy very large clematis's (which would be very expensive), you may or may not have blooms next year. It's been my experience that they take at least 2 years to bloom and usually the 3rd year is the best. I'm in zone 4 too.
Chalk Hill Clematis is an excellent company. A bit pricey, but quality of plants is outstanding in my book. I bought 2 plants last fall and they are both blooming now in April/May in my Zone 5b. (think I'm probably closer to a 6) but if you are looking for quality clematis they are a good choice. Brenda
Thanks everyone for your input, will keep it for further reference,
Brigitte
