...it is a knock off...

SE Arky, United States(Zone 8a)

A tree limb fell on my oldest brug yesterday in a windy storm and a green shoot was knocked off. Can I root it??? It appears to have Ys, maybe a couple, and there is a separate piece that was broken off, with no leaves. I left both pieces in water over night and both have little white-ish lumps or bumps where they were in water. Both pieces are green and tinder. I was thinking of sticking them in soil. Is that the thing to do??? TIA!! SLike

I root green shoots, sometimes they take and sometimes they don't, but it can't hurt to try.

I would try too:)

Let those white nubbies become a little larger before you put the cuttings in soil.

Thanks all!!! I hate to say it but I've just never done cuttings, I've never been interested until now. I hope I'll be able to master it. BTW, I don't know where I should say this, but some of you, Shirley in particular, told me about Avid. I got mine today and that stuff is unbelievable. It ran stuff out of my original brug that is two plants now and about 3 feet tall. I still don't know what was responsible for the chewing, but it looks like the Avid took care of what ever it was. It is some good stuff. Just don't use it constantly or your critters will develope an immunity to it.

Yes, and isn't that a shame. It did such a good job today that I don't intend to use it for a while. One reason being that I have lots of ladybugs and I cannot stand the thought of harming them, they are so sweet!!!!!! SLike
