Which brug is the darkest pink/rose...not peachy in color?

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

I keep seeing all of your gorgeous pictures and each time I see one, I wonder if that is the deepest pink/roses available. So, I go from thinking I want this one and then that one! So I really would like to know which one it actually is!

In your opinion, which one is the very deepest pink/rose in color....and not peachy, but I guess more toward the bluish line?

That what I am looking for that one like you wanted.

I'm sure there are lots of them, but my favorites are Butterfly and Pink Beauty. Coming in close behind are Rosamond, Ecuador Pink, and a bunch of the new but not released hybrids.

I'm a pink girl too and JT sent me every pink Shirley mentioned, except Rosamond, and I'm dying for one of those too!!!! Might any of the ones you mentioned be doubles, Shirley??? If not, is there a double pink????? TIA!!! SLike

How about L'Amour? Is that a dark one too?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

L'Amour is dark, but tends to go more toward the orange side, not rose. No pink doubles available in the US that I know of yet. Even if brought in from outside the US, there will be that two year wait. It is always possible that one will come out of one of the crosses that have been done, so we are all in the same boat.............just waiting and hoping.

Shirley, I would think, following white, that pink would be the easiest to cross. Obviously I'm incorrect. Assuming pinks aren't easy to cross, why is that, any idea????? SLike

Sherry, you would have to ask Monika why double pinks are not easy to hybridize with what we have in the US to work with. I believe it has to do with having the right genes to begin with and they have been lacking here.

The colour Pink shows in Brugmansias a large variation from a pale Pink to a deep Rose, even on one and the same plant.
It depends on the season, daylight length, temperatures and humidity. They show optimal colours in July/August.

Love it when Monika comes along and helps us to learn these things!

Please forgive!! I regret posting a private post here, however, my mail to Shirley keeps bouncing. Shirley, I've received your posts, but yours keep bouncing, I don't know if it's your server or mine, most likely BOTH of them. So sorry for the inconvenience, just so happy to have DG to be able to reach you. SherryLike
