Roger from Sweden
Thank you Roger. :)
That is very generous of you Roger.
I don't know if he was watching or not Pam. Right now I'm into plants and have no brain space left for the outside world. I will only come out of this when I have gotten everything fed, watered, pruned, divided, moved.
In other words....after frost! ;)
That was very generous of Roger! I know in our house we can go into a week long slump after losing.
We haven't had frost for months and I still am not caught up. Actually, I don't think I'm ever caught up....oh well, there is always next year.
Bumping this up, the previous part of the thread was for the juniors, (probably better hockey too)
The pros, just won the world cup, over Finland, 1-0.
The neighbourhood is alive with cheers, yelling, and horns honking, despite the pouring rain.
Maybe next year we'll get Lord Stanley's cup back, if they ever play NHL hockey again.
Linda in Victoria
what do you mean 1/0 in my world it was 3/2 but anyway we are the CHAMPS
LOL, my information was incorrect. You're right, 3-2
Linda
The start of the thread was for the World Championship where NHL'er's who didn't make the Stanley Cup Playoff's played for the World Championship........DH says that what was played for, and won tonight......was the World Cup.
No matter.........we won both and as Queen sings "We are the champions.........of the WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" :D
but I really want our Stanley Cup back!!!!!!!!! ;)

I thought Finland did really well throughout the tournament; I'm glad we played against them instead of the US. Apparently many folks in Helsinki were up through the night watching the game; and two charter flights even came over to Toronto to see it in person. There are a lot of similarities between our two countries.
At one of the World Cup games in Germany, when Finland was playing another team (Czech, perhaps...), there were a bunch of Calgary Flames fans in attendance, cheering for Kiprusoff. Pretty cool, eh?
Maybe the CBC will broadcast some European games for us this fall....

Seemed to me they all took lessons from Esa Tikkanen (sp) - they can board with the best of our boys.
Yeah, I don't know how much the North American influence can be said to have "improved" the European game. When I was in Helsinki on holiday a few years ago I saw a game in their top-level league, and during the breaks got into a conversation with an elderly gentleman beside me...a very limited conversation, as my Finnish & his English were both limited to about 20 words! Anyway, when a couple of the players got into a fight late in the 3rd period (the first fight in the game), he turned to me with a big grin on his face, pointed to the fight and said "Canada! Canada!"
lolol....our boys do seem to be known for that!
