I want to fertilize my brugs, they are fairly small in size and they are in deep 4" pots. Can I use Miracle Gro for Roses 18-24-16? Says it's good for flowers.
Another newbie question...
One of our experts will be along to help soon...:)
I think it's best if the middle number is lower, if I understand right?
Thanks LadySwan... Anybody, can you help? I just don't want to kill my first brugs. I haven't even seen a bloom yet...
I'm a newbie too. I wonder if some SuperThrive would help?? SherryLike
I probably would not use it,it probably would not hurt them,I would just wait,I used MG 15/30/15 for years, then 20/20/20,who knows,it could be fine.hopefully Monika will be along soon.
Thanks rooty! I know, Monika to the rescue. She always seems to help when it seems hopeless :)
I also have Hawaiian Flower Magic (for my plumeria) 9-18-9...
I use regular Miracle Grow on occasion. As a rule, Monika advises to use a fertilizer with a lower middle number, that being said try it. You will not kill them unless you burn them with it. Though at this size, you do not need to be encouraging blooms but root and green growth. I often use the systemic rose food and insecticide and that has a higher phophate number.
When you buy more fertilizer, then switch.
I don't think it would hurt to use it once a month, but for regular fertilizing, I'd go with a Miracle Grow product with lower middle number or find some Peters or another product that has added minor elements.
groovytree, I wouldnt use the Miracle Grow for Roses. It has too much Phosphor (the high middle Nr.). A fertilizer with appr.16+10+22 suits them best. I use one and the same fertilizer on seedlings, cuttings, large and old brugs, only the quantity given, varies. Brugie or rootdoctor may help you with the fertilizer available in the US.
I really, really appriciate all of the help that you all have given me. I will look around and see what I can find that has a low middle number. Wish me luck and I'll keep you all posted...
