Hello There! I Just Found You!

Coppell, TX(Zone 8a)

Lucky me! Somebody on another board (Kitchen Chat!) sent me to the plant database, which led me here! What a great place this seems to be!

I live in Coppell, TX, which is just outside of Dallas, zone 8a. I have never done my own gardening before, but this year have decided to try to plant some things and take care of flowers myself (not the lawn though! LOL)

I planted my first rose bush, an Olympia Rose (which I just treated for black spot!) and had a bumper crop on my Patio Rose trees. I have a whole slew of Wisteria which is doing great, and have a problem? with Sedum that is overtaking the Earth over here.

Here is a pic of my favorite rose tree!

And here is the Sedum that ate my Orange Verbena and everything else in its path! LOL

Welcome to Daves. Your rose tree is gorgeous and the sedum looks great too. I'd have it if it would grow like yours, but mine never would.

Welcome Sharon, I've already seen you around. Glad you jumped right in. Do you know the VanCompernelle's from Copell?

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

Welcome Diva from another newbie (I'm new to Dave's and gardening). Everyone here is anxious to share their knowledge and this has to be the friendliest forum on the internet.

Glad you found Dave's!

Hi Everybody! Thanks for the welcome tonight! I'm definitely having fun here, getting my questions answered in lots of areas! And I have a LOT of questions! Being a new gardener, I don't know anything at all, so I'm making a nuisance of myself here and at my local nurseries! LOL

I just planted some Verbena tonight (I wait 'til the sun almost sets) and hammered up some masonry nails for my Wisteria!

Hi Art! Nice to see you again! Sorry, though, don't know those people. It would be fun to find neighbors here!

Coppell, TX(Zone 8a)

Hey, Tracey! I agree, this is such an incredibly friendly place! I can't believe how different it feels from another board I've been on for a few months. This makes me feel really good!

So far, I've posted on Day Lilies, Soil, Pets, Vines and Climbers, and here! I'm learning a lot and have already shown off my doggies on the Pets forum! LOL

See you all around!

Art, did you see the pics of the red tree I posted for you on my other thread about Sedum?

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

Yes I did, thank you for the picture! I meant to reply, I must've gotten sidetracked. Its a gorgeous tree! I'm in awe of the deep red color.
We have something here sorta like it- I think they are this, Eastern redbud, they look pretty similar. http://plantsdatabase.com/go/31646/index.html

Ooooh, pretty tree! Foliage looks similar, but flowers seem different. I think mine look kind of like a Cherry Blossom!

Here is a closeup of the flowers...sorry, a little bit blurry! I need a better camera for closeups!
