I checked out my brug seeds in soil this morning and I have 2 seeds that have germinated. They are from poppysue...her ecuador seeds! Thought I would share it with you!
There are more seeds planted, but I needed to take them out of the plastic bag to give these 2 more room! These seeds were planted in planting mix on April 20th.
a first for me...and I am excited!
Margie, the middle photo shows a 'cap' on one of the seeds which someone implied might keep them from maturing/growing and that they should be removed. Are you going to remove the cap??? I think your babies are precious and I hope the rest is smooth sailing!!!! Oh, what are you going to do about the mold??? SLike
PS - Margie, some place I read where maybe Monika or Kell gave instructions for re potting and I cannot locate the thread. Do you happen to remember which thread it was?????
Thanks Sherry...The seeds caps are still in place, I thought I would give it alittle time and see if it can remove its own!
I believe I asked the questions and the answer was from Monika that she leaves them until they are about 2 1/2" high...but that was probably ones in soil. I am not sure if that goes for the RW planted seeds also....seems to me that kell said that she removes them as they germinate & plants them!?
Kell.....where are you? What should I do now???
OK...here is what I did, since I am on the run to get to my daylily meeting and visit a garden before it & then visit happenstance and see her garden afterwards! An exciting day!
I potted the 5 datura seeds that had germinated in foam cups with holes in the bottom....in planting mix and watered well. Put them outdoors in the shade. I put the other RW and seeds, back into the plastic baggie! That will have to be alright for them. Can't spend anymore time on them now!
Picture lady, this is thrilling & they look so precious!
Use plastic straws or spoons for bag support, wood or bamboo will grow mold =(
Darling little family you have there ;-D
Looking good! They will usually lose the seed coat by pushing it off as their leaves grow. Sometimes they need a little help, but I wouldn't do it yet. Maybe someone with more experience can come along and offer some expert advice. You may know that the little seed leaves (cotyledons) are what provides the seedling with all its nourishment until it develops its first set of real leaves, so its important that they remain intact. Without them, the seedling will most surely die. Have fun with them PictureLady!
very nice so fast to.. great job...
Margie, they all look great! My don't they grow once they are out in the ground...you'll have lots of beauty's come this summer! Can't wait to see them :-)
Julie
Excellent Margie, you are a great "mommy!"
So nice to see what happens over time with such good care.
Looking great. You should see some blooms before too long, on the older seedlings. Good luck.
