Hi..My husband is making me move 2 of my elephant ears that are thriving! They are already almost waist high this year. I'm scared to transplant them. I have another location where they will be okay I think, they will get a bit more sun than they are now, but not too much. How do I go about doing this? There's no way around it, it has to be done due to construction on our home. Please help.....
Moving Elephant Ear question
I have had to do that a couple years ago.
What I did was, cut the green folage down and then started digging and I put some root stimulator in the hole and planted the EE. I think that if you don't cut the folage down, then the bulb is using all it's energy trying to keep the folage going instead of making new growth.
I agree with CoCo. I have moved ees before and the leaves would usually die or look bad anyway.
I have to dig mine every year cause of the harsh winter. I just cut them back, plop in a pot of soil and take inside. Within a few weeks I have new leaves and they keep lovely all winter only getting about 18-24" tall. Now they are back outside again. Been doing this with the same plant for many years.
