See how hardy brugs are!!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

This is Rosabelle. A real beauty.

Here is her winter color.

This brug is such a beauty. I fell in love the moment I saw it even though she was in her winter white and not her summer pink!

Sadly, the gardener at my friend's house weedwacked it 360 degrees around the base of the stem. I was sure it was a goner!

Colorado Springs, CO(Zone 6a)

Wow thats crazy! and biologically should not be possible! Very pretty flower, I like the shape.

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

Kell, is that scar clear around the trunk? I was always told if the cambium bark is cut completely around a tree it will kill it. It interups the sap flow. I wonder how a brug can live....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Yes Sue, clear around!! None left. I was amazed when it put put all this new growth. When we first noticed it in the winter, I emailed Monika pictures. I was not sure what had caused it. At one point we thought a rodent had gnawed it all around. Then we noticed lots of the plants and trees have damage in the same place. This one is the worst. Then we realized it was a weedwacker that had done it. Or so we think.

You should see all the buds!!! And it is a small plant.

I didn't realize my DH had gone to CA to do yardwork, but that picture sure looks like his handiwork. LOL

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

These just don't cease to amaze me. I am not surprise that this one made it. Even more reason to grow and get more brugs. They are just awsome in the surivial department and have such beautiful flowers to......LOL... :o)

The picture of the weed wacked Brug stem is almost to painful to look at! It obviously was a very hardy Brug to withstand such disfigurement!

Brundidge, AL(Zone 8b)

I see i am not the only one who has a crazy man weed wacking things .every thing in my yard has a scar on it from his handy weed wacking frenzy!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

What just occurred to me is that what I should have done in February or March, is dig this one out and replant it much deeper past the wound so it would root further up the trunk.

Denver, CO(Zone 5b)

Gosh Kell!! That new growth IS from the ground right?! (or at least lower than where the damage was done)
I sure am glad she decided to hang in there. Such a lovely flower!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

NO. The damage is on the only stalk that comes up from the ground. See in the picture, the damage is aobut 2 inch from the ground. All the growth starts about a foot up from that.

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It is going to be beautiful Kell!!!

GOD's Green Earth, United States(Zone 8b)

Unreal...that's why I do all my own gardening, trimming, weeding and weedwacking! Even if DH would do it for me, I wouldn't even begin to allow it LOL!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

She is very pretty Kell. You have some of the most beautiful brugs I've ever seen.

Kannapolis, NC(Zone 7b)

I second that, Shirley. LOL Even if she does let people weedwhack on them

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Right...I had forgotten about that. See how quick my memory fails me when I'm tired. LOL!

So loud in fact that my DH & DD both came to see what was going on with this crazy woman in here just talking & laughing so outrageously. Your photos took my breath away, it is stunning. Then to see the damage from that weed wacker had me cursing aloud! I am so glad it survived.
