Hosta 'Frances Williams'
Hosta

The leaves get quite large in good soil, and have a beautiful seersucker puckering to them.

Wow, beautiful leaves on that Hosta.

Oh my gosh!!!! I had no idea the leaves got that large. You got that thing on steroids?

All my hostas got pretty big this year. We had a dry sunny spring and I thought it was going to cause the opposite phenomenon. I put some llama manure on the ferns nearby, I think, so maybe that did it. Thanks for your comments.

I love it and it's a shame I don't have a larger shade garden.

I need some of you llama maure. How thrilled you must be to see the hostas this large.

Actually, this poor plant got a little sunburned after I took out a large maple branch overhead. Shame on me! The branch was affecting a nearby Colorado Blue Spruce, causing it to lean away for light.
I will have to talk to my manure friends about bagging and selling that powerful fertilizer to you...used all 15 buckets (5 gal each) of it here and could use more myself. Seems like everything likes it and no burning of leaves.

I saw a llama "ranch" on the way to my husband's deer lease. I might stop and ask if I can buy some manure.

Piedmont, MO(Zone 6a)

I was just kidding about being charged for the manure...our friends are glad to give it away, and the ranch near you might be, too. The llamas excrete in the same place and big piles of it form...real easy to shovel up that way.

Sounds good to me.

Just rec'd 2 pots of these beauties, earlier this year .. and am lookin' forward to seeing them mature and fill out.

Of course, I can only hope like the dickens .. that they'll both 'grow up' to look at least half as gorgeous as yours appear to be, toxi. A mitey healthy lookin' specimen!!

'Seersucker puckering' describes the texture of the leaves, jes perfectly ..

Now, to see how quickly I can find out if those folks over in Compton still have their llamas, and hit 'em up for a good scoop or two of llama poo!
