This is areca vestiaria.......I have many seeds available for trade.Sprouts in a bout 30 days at 80F.Slow at first then grows quickly.
Any serious palm seed growers?
Does it take forever for the palm to get any size? I love, love, love palms. Come to find out, I can grow many in my area, tho I have heard that it just cannot be done. Course I have to take a few precautions, like maybe using Christmas tree blinking lights if it dips low suddenly, or al all, for that matter. Are the seeds hugh?
Roz, this one can stand cooler temps then the really tropical ones.Do not like a hard freeze though.Takes about 5 years to reach 7 foot tall and the colored crownshaft shows up at about 4 years of age.
OOOPs! Roz, the seeds are about the size of an almond in the shell and have thin zebra stripes on them.
Pretty tree! I would like to have some seeds but I don't really have anything to trade for it with you..
I have that palm Roz, it's really pretty.
That is not a long time for a palm tree at all. Is the trunk of that palm red, or is it the lighting? Kyle, let me call tomorrow and see if the catwhiskers are in yet, and maybe we can trade. Bet you'd have to soak those seeds for a week!
Hi Kyle, I'd love a seed.
Did you get my email? This was sent on April 23 and I didn't hear back from you.

Janet
two different species..not related. One The red crownshaft palm ( cyrt. renda) is terribly tropical in culture..the areca will tolerate much more as far as temps.
