Good morning everyone – doing a quick check in from work. It’s supposed to get hot here – temps in 80’s. KathyJo - hope your husband is mending well.
We could use some rain. However, we did get close to an inch last week. I’m recuperating from a bad cold. I slept in yesterday and took a few hours of sick leave. I should have stayed home totally as our computers were down most of the day due to some kind of worm.
We’ve been busy around here as usual. We’ve been having people come and buy lambs for showing and then we decided to sell all but a few ewe lambs. The past few years, we would sell a few lambs to 4-H and FFA members and then feed out the rest. However, this year we would have to buy the grain and we decided to sell them as feeders.
And the best news of all – Julia found a teaching job. It is located about 150 miles from here in northeast Nebraska. She would have preferred a school with a stronger FFA program. DH and I told her it might be easier to build up a program than to fill the shoes of an instructor who had the reputation of winning all contests. When doing the interviewing, the interviewers really questioned her about her discipline policies. It seems that has been a problem with the past two instructors. I hope that is not too big of an issue for her.
We’re anxiously awaiting for Nelda to calve. Nelda is the matriarch of the herd. She was Julia’s first bucket calf.
Better get back to work. You all take care.
