Finally a good show!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

And oddly it is Maya doing it so early! Last year it was CG that gave me my first early flush. I think I pruned much harder this last month on these then I had in past years.

The scent out in my driveway is great! And in my backyard, Arborea is in constant bloom and fills the backyard with its distinctive perfume.

Beautiful flush Kell. I do remember your CG last year and it was quite a sight also. How large is your Arborea? I can just image the lovely fragrance from it penetrating the yard. I know we will be seeing many lovely pictures from you.

Wow Kell.. That is a great pic. I love the contrast you created w/ the underplantings!!! I'm still waiting to get my brugs out to begin hardening off. If this is anything like last year.....Things won't get out until June 16th!!! Bummer of a thought-ey?

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Just beautiful kell. I have one bud getting ready to open on my dbl. white....can't even imagine when mine are that large and with that many blooms!

Is there something about arboreas that are especially pleasing in fragrance? I have to read more about them in my Preissel book! That might make a good subject for a new thread!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

No Sue, this is the mother plant of that caterpillar eaten one! I just killed that one Sunday!! It was in the front garden and it was too slow in recovering from the winter. I put a tall PB in its place.

I have gotten so many Mayas from this one. It is constantly putting them out. See the 1 big side growth in the front of this one? I have 2 good sized ones on it now. I had cut them all off just last month when I took it out of the hoophouse so these are so fast growing shoots.

Margie, I got this one from Roger Reynolds 3 years ago.

It was a 5 gallon pot and was a huge bush!! For $25. I immediately cut off all but one stem and it kept growing till it got to be a nice tall tree.

Linda, I haven't fertilized any of my alley trees yet at all. I just can't seem to get to it. However, I did pull them out of their pots they had been in for 1 year. I cut the root ball way back and the canopy to match. Added fresh soil and repotted them up.

The color is just starting to change to an apricot now.
