Has anyone heard of this? I didn't hear of it either until yesterday. I tried to send a business proposal to one of my customers using QuickBooks Pro 2001. This program was bought and paid for in 2001, I bought 1 year of live support and did not renew that in 2002. So 3 years later Intuit sends some update thing to my computer and says they have to update. Stupid me (I don't subscribe to updates anymore) I clicked update. It went through the progress bar process and in the end said there was a file missing and could not update.
So up until yesterday, I could email invoices and proposals to my customers. Yesterday I get an error message that says I can't use the email part of my program because of the Sunset Policy. Funny.....there is no mention of their "Sunset Policy" in either the 1999 or 2001 users manuals. I need that email feature in my QB program, since you cannot export or send invoices or proposals outside of quick books.
1. I figure, they had a time set to disable the email feature on a certain date (actually I don't really believe this would be the case because it would only seem right they would disclose that up front.)
2. The "update" they sent to my computer was intended to disable the email feature in my program to get my attention to force me into buying a new version. This software program is very expensive and I figured as long as the program worked, I wouldn't need to buy it again.
So....
Is there a way to circumvent their "update" and reactivate the email portion of this program?
I feel like Intuit just broke into my house and stole computer software from me. This can't be legal and do you know if there is any recourse fo this?
Thanks much
Molly
