It looks like bottle brush, they grow everywhere down here and have been blooming for over a month down in the very south of TX.

Definitely not a bottle brush.

If you could get a better close up. But it could be a firemans hat. They are gorgeous. I don't know botanical name.

Do you mean Erythrina when you say Fireman's hat? Here is a link to a good picture on eBay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2397877909&category=42354

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

those are such beautiful trees. They had one here in the next town, it was about 15 ft tall. One day I passed by it and it was GONE! Someone cut it down..ack! We also call them "Babys Tear Trees".

They call them that here too Lisa.

Yes that is it. If you look at each of the blooms you can see a firemans hat. The picture really looks like it is this tree.

But the bloom clusters on Erythrina don't hang down, and their flower spikes don't have leaves on them.

Montgomery, AL(Zone 8a)

I do not think it is a Erythrina. For a Erythrina to get that big it would have to be growing where there is no frost, plus I have never seen Erythrina bloom like that. Need to post this in the plant identification section, someone knows.
