white thorn flowers

Antrim, Northern Ire, United Kingdom(Zone 8b)

is it only here in Ireland that the White Thorn trees have so much bloom on them? all the hedgerows near me look like they are covered in snow. A closer look shows that the branches are covered in so much blossom that the leaves are hidden.

I have taken a few photos, surprise surprise!!, which I will post later this week.

Sounds beautiful. Can't wait to see your pictures. Are those the flowers that are used for the hedgerows every where in the UK?

sure are. folklore says lots of bloom = lots of berries = hard winter. the truth is we had a very warm May which kept away any late frosts that would destroy the buds and blooms.

the photos, 69 and 70, are here

The hedgerows here in Northumberland have some blossom too but the Hawthorn gets trimmed in the autumn so I expect that that cuts off the flowers for this year.
