Has the farm forum ever been this quiet before?? Spring must have grabbed us all up and kept us busy.

We've had some lovely days, after a short snow fall on Tuesday. Today, it has cooled down about 25 degrees and rained a steady spate.

After church, we had a quick lunch and went to one of my favorite nurseries. It was pouring rain before we got done and the temp dropped about 10 degrees while we were there. I decided that while I do feel good today, next Sunday may not work out as well ( the meds I take on Friday can impact a whole weekend ), so we did the Mother's Day shopping and I picked up a few things for me while we were there. Got Stan's mom some yellow daisies in a big pot and my mom a couple of flowering maples (Abutilon) in shades of deep red and a gold with variegated leaves.

I got some Purple Ice and mixed violas, some huge pansies, a new bleeding heart to replace the one that died over the winter, two little pots of stonecrop, two small Clematis henryii and a pot of Russian sage. The clerk was totalling it up and asked if that was all and Stan said, 'no, but it will do for today. She'll be back! ''

He's spent part of the week getting heifers out to the various pastures and part of it filling trucks full of junk. We finally got someone to come and haul and it took them two days to get it all away. Not that it's ALL gone by any means, but most of the really junky junk.

I did help load one load of heifers, but mostly I've been puttering around in the gardens trying to get some of the forget-me-nots out so I can plant some veggies in a few weeks. I also have a lot of rose canes that need trimmed - it was a very hard winter on the poor old things, and while there's lots of healthy growth, there's a good amount of dead too.

Karla and NJ, I will keep your families in my prayers. I can't imagine being in your position now.

KJo, I'm really sorry to hear about your husband's broken ankle! I'm afraid your in for a hard spring. I am happy to hear that the rhubarb continues to grow, though.

Guess I'll go check the weather and see how cold it's supposed to get. Don't think they are talking frost, but I'd best be sure. The leaves are popping out like crazy!
