Is sure does resemble a Scadoxus flower (used to be Haemanthus), foliage is different though.

I bought some of those at a flower show last year and they never did anything. :( They are pretty though.

Isn't christophii the ones they call star of persia,I have them too ,but they get a foot wide flower in bloom.They just finished blooming.I alos have those purple onoins whose flower heads hang upside down,and some dwarf yellow ones too,love the smell of onions!!!Those Vidalias onions from Georgia have hit the walmart stores here ,aren't they the sweetest onions ever??

if you want a recipe for them, beef and vidalia's served over pasta, easy to make and absolutely delicious, even for someone like me who isn't crazy for onions like you and my leo.
