Thanks to generous DG members like Ada, Kelley and PoppySue I've got my own Brugmansia Seedlings.
These were not all started at the same time, I staggered them just in case I "messed up".
I think they are doing pretty good ................ I can't wait to see them bloom. It may be next year, but I can be patient, I think.
Some are seeds from insect pollination, and for some both parents are known.
My First Brug Seedlings
Great looking seedlings, Tree climber. Do you have cuttings also?
Hi Ada,
No cuttings ................ just the rooted starts that you shared with me. Which are doing great by the way.
You can add me to the list of people that you have passed on your addiction to.
Tree climber. we love to get others addicted. LOL
Tree, those are beautiful, healthy appearing seedlings, you must be a very happy camper to be so successful, I'm most impressed!!! SLike
That's the truth! They got me addicted! I'm a "Brugmaniac"
I just ordered seeds from Calas. Some peach & pink colored seeds (we hope)
Here's a picture of my (tho not impressive as your's) seedlings.
I moved the ones that are missing to pots as a mouse had been digging in the 6 pack, darn critters. I have caught 2 in there in traps. These are Datura, purple. I have one white Brug. seedling going about the same size. Plus my white cuttings are sprouting. I'm SO excited!!!
Congratulations for these healthy looking seedlings Tree_climber.
Thanks Everyone for sharing in my excitement. I appreciate the comments and good wishes.
TC - those are great looking! You have done a good job!
Bj's - your dats look nice too, and welcome to DG brug forum!
Great looking seedlings :-) It's more work and requires more patience to start from seeds. But you can't beat the rewards! :-) There's just sumthin about watching a plant started from a teeny seed...
and not knowing what you will end up with. Oh the possiblilities! LOL. They are sure looking great.
Wow Kathy, they are looking really good. I'll cross my fingers that you will get bloom. Is the weather warm enough that you can get them outside yet?
PS....my coleus are looking great. Thanks!!
Glad to hear the Coleus is doing great Shirley.
It's been cool this week, but I think it's safe. Only the high 60's today, but lows are mostly in the 50's.
I just have to find a spot ............... I think one of my raised vegetable beds will no longer be for veggies.
How far apart should I space them if I plant them in the ground for the summer and bring them back inside this winter?
Or I saw someone was planting them pot and all ... that would make it easier to bring them back in. In that case, what size pot should I use?
So MUCH to learn.............................. Oh but what fun.

Those look great! Congrats!!!
Everyone does it differently. I've done seedlings in the ground about 18 inches apart. This year I have many in the ground and several in three gallon black pots. It may mean a lot of watering...I'll just have to wait and see, but these seeds are special and if they don't bloom, I wanted to be able to bring the pots into the basment and I can't handle anything much bigger.
What great looking seedlings TC! I love planting in the cups also, use the big red ones from Costco, so cheap:) and they never need to be sterilized-ya just pitch em!
I do the same thing, figure the seeds won't come up so plant them all, and then oops, now what do I do??
Can't wait to see what colors you get, I'm on my first seeds also. I just hope they bloom this year for us both :)
