I'll attach a pic of one of them. These are my red cannas that Studley sent me seed for. They were the only 4 that propagated, and like a dummy I put them outside too soon (although the ones from rhizomes are doing fine, go figure?)
They obviously did not like the chilly weather we had, after the warm warm weather we had prior to that (that made me jump the gun).
What should I do? Should I cut off the worst leaves on them? Could they survive that? I feel like the bad leaves are taking up all the nutrients, trying to survive (you know, how houseplants do, and you pull off the bad ones of those).
Any suggestions would be helpful. The next few days are supposed to be in the 70's and 80's, so I don't think moving them is a good idea at this point. Are they beyond repair?
4 Sick Cannas HELP!
Hope they will snap out of it. Looks like weather shock, sun/wind? They should grow new leaves if they have a good roots.
Certainly looks like a little weather shock to me..........like Hibiscus said, they should recover.
"eyes"
so leave the leaves alone? I know it is weather shock. I am just wondering what to do from here on. I will leave them alone unless someone else says otherwise.
Karrie, they will be fine.
Just leave then alone.
As it warms, they will grow nice new leaves.
Romove the ratty ones as that happens.
Alice
Thanks so much all of you! This brightened my day because I thought I was losing my babies!
I looked at them again today, and two of them are showing new growth. The next few days of warm weather should be a bonus!
I would listen to Alice. She gives good advice.
thank you RD - I had thought about it and thought that was a good idea. Nice to know many of us are on the same page!
