I'm almost scared to ask what's wrong with this plant. It's developed these funky spots that just look like brug ventiligo. Any ideas?
I had it labeled Kyles Giant White- which I cant find in the database to compare, but as far as I know thats what it is. Please dont tell me its sick!
Spotty leaves?
The mottling of the leaves may be caused by unsuitable growing conditions, especially in early spring. It may also be caused by a virus. The plant should recover as soon, as she has suitable growing conditions.
I've seen mottling like that on plants that are inside for the winter. Once they get back out they snap right out of it.
Ok good to know. Thanks monika and poppysue! I think I'll get the courage to put them outside soon. Its just so windy!
It was very windy here, had some leaf damage, now we have a nice slow rain.
All my plants have been out since the first week of April. Few had the same markings but as soon as they had natural light they've turned back to normal. Unfortunately with all the gale force winds we've been havin they are pretty beat up.
We had wind yesterday.
I always have some funny looking leaves this time of year.
I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one.
Will these leaves turn back normal-- or will the new growth just be normal?
Oh, I figured out something today, that I wanted to share!
--I kept putting my brugs outside in the shade at about 10 am, and always within 10 min they were droopy and sad.
So instead, I put them out last night in the shady spot, and now today and 1:30 they are looking great! I guess they didnt like that sudden move, and needed a slow transition.
I'm participating in the learning curve, lol, as they would say at my school.
Some of mine are looking more normal now that they are outside. I wouldn't worry to much about them. The new leaves should be okay as long as you aren't over doing the fertilizer.
We had high winds today and things look a little ragged, but here we have winds all spring so they might as well get used to it. One of my bananas looks pretty whipped. I think I'll take the one leaf off tomorrow.
Don't ya hate what the winds do to them Shirley?
Susie, the wind was so bad it snapped wave petunias off at the ground. Today has been fairly nice and calm and of course, HOT as heck. Where is the breeze when you need it? LOL!
I've been trying to harden off mine too and they look terrible. It's been windy and cold nights yet here in Mi.
Every time I spray for spider mites, the leaves drop or die.
My dat seedlings needed to be put outside long ago, some are dying. I NEEDED to play in the dirt! I just planted a few seeds!! I need a greenhouse!Better yet, I want to live in the tropics!!
There, now I feel much better!
Bonnie
Bonnie, I don't know if it will make you feel better, but I also go through this every year and if it could be done, we would move south. First of all, my old bones are getting so they don't like the winters and secondly, my brugs and ears would be much happier. LOL!
